First Responder has become
the basic entry-level provider certification within the EMS system. Our intensive sports version prepares the health
care professional with the skill sets and expertise to manage pre-hospital sport venue emergencies and integrate
within local EMS.
Since 1996, SFR has been given across North America and has been adopted as the standard
by many agencies. The courses were originally designed for Athletic Therapists and Trainers, the health care
providers most likely to respond to a pre-hospital emergency in a sports setting. The program continues to evolve
and is inclusive to all members of the multi-disciplinary sports medicine team eg: CAT(C), PT (SPC), MD, etc. and
their senior students.
Enhancements in technique, technology and de-regulation of certain medical interventions
have allowed tremendous advancements in pre-hospital emergency care. Fall 2010 will see updates to the way we do CPR/AED For
